Vala
The Edwardian underbust corset is a piece that fascinates. It swoops and clings and sculpts in a birdlike fashion, but with this modern interpretation we have spent a lot of time behind the scenes developing a pattern with a contemporary hip spring, dished hourglass rib shape (not visible on mannequin) and supreme comfort during wear. This is a sophisticated, sensuous piece, borrowing from gothic inspirations and using a fresh and vivid colour palette with just a touch of whimsy.
Each underbust is handmade in England using high quality materials such as traditional herringbone coutil and German steel boning. We create each corset to your specifications so a dedication to a beautiful finish is assured. We are happy to discuss any customisation you would like to add.
Custom Colours

Sizing Advice And Construction
The Vala Edwardian underbust is intended for waist reductions of up to 4″ and is not recommended for regular waist training, though please contact us if you’d like something designed for this purpose. We generally suggest you buy a corset 6″ smaller than your natural waist size- this accounts for a 4″ reduction and a 2″ lacing gap, the chart at the top of the page may help you choose your size but please contact us with any questions you have.
The low sweeping cut at the underbust makes this corset more versatile than other styles for clients with a shorter torso. If you’d like advice based on your personal measurements we are more than happy to advise.
Your underbust includes:
- A traditional busk fastening in your choice of silver, gold or black (you may swap for a zip for no charge) with a sturdy bone to support it (underbusk) which helps to smooth the stomach.
- A minimum of 16 spring and spiral steel bones.
- Finest quality two part eyelets and cotton lacing.
- Front modesty placket and a boned modesty panel suspended behind the lacing.
- A design cut for flowing curves and elegant cinching with styling to help avoid “muffin top”
- Sturdy coutil front and back panels and boning channels.
- Silk dupion feature panels and binding.
- A seam free interior for comfort.
- Handmade binding.
